Do you get a little tired of hearing about the performance tweaks the MG owners get out of their 4-bangers when you know your SP250 will run circles around them? Have you had people at shows start to tell you about the Triumph just like yours they once owned? Or Sunbeam? Or ask why your R. Royce sedan has that strange grill?

Well, WELCOME TO THE CLUB...the club for owners of Daimlers & Lanchesters. There may not be that many of us out there, and we may be a little reticent to trumpet the virtues of our cars, but put us together in the same room and see what happens.

While the Daimler Motorcar Company started producing vehicles in the 1890's, it was the introduction of the SP250 sports car that brought the marquee to the attention of the American autophile. Introduced at the New York Auto Show in 1959, the fiberglass roadster with the small V-8 engine was unlike any "mass produced" British sports car available. Originally scheduled to be marketed as a "Dart" (wedge shape), the name had to be dropped because of copyright issues and the internal production model designation was assigned as a matter of practicality. SP for "sports" and 250 for the 2.5litre engine displacement.

The history of the Daimler company is a story that typifies the British auto industry and the eventual demise of most of the historic companies/brands. Whether you own a pre-WW2 hand built special, a "Dingo" Scout Car, double-decker bus, SP250 , V-8 250 (Jag MK2) or elegant sedan, we hope our club will be a resource you find worthwhile.
